NewsCoroner Issues River/Lakes Warning
The BC Coroners Service is issuing a warning to the public ahead of the BC Day long weekend.
Spokesperson Barb McLintock says with so much tragedy on our lakes and rivers lately they are very eager to let families know just how dangerous things are at the moment. With the good weather she expects British Columbians to flock to the water this weekend.
The big message is - that popular boating or tubing spot you like to go to each August is not what you're used to and is far more dangerous this summer because of the high flows.
She says everyone needs to ensure they have pre-planned and checked there is a safe pull-out point for river trips because currents are very strong at the moment and could out people in peril.
