Teck Sheds Light On Fugitive Dust Plan

Wednesday, May 16, 2012 - 2:21 PM

Teck is providing more detail into their multi-year plan to reduce the amount of fugitive dust released at trail operations.

Manager of energy and public affairs Richard Deane says Teck has identified open mixing, storage and transport of concentrate as three main areas to address.

He adds the company has also recently purchased two new street sweepers to clean up and recycle dust released on site.

Deane says Teck has reduced its metal emissions by 95 percent over the last fifteen years mainly due to new Kivcet technology.

He believes tackling the fugitive dust issue to be extremely important both for the company and the community.
