Management Changes For Capitol Theatre

Wednesday, June 20, 2012 - 11:10 AM

Nelson's Capitol Theatre and it's executive director are parting ways.

Neil Harrower has run things for seven years during which time the facility has enjoyed continued financial success.

Chair of the theatre's board Martin Oets says "Neil's contract ended and he deided to strike out on his own and he's looking at building his own business."

In terms of an agreement with the board Harrower couldn't comment regarding his departure but says he will remain in Nelson as an arts consultant.

The Capitol will look into whether they should find another executive director or fill the multi-task role with various people. Oets admits the board asks a lot from the executive director role as it involves creative direction as well as all round accounting and administrative duties as well as the caretaking of the building.

Oets says programming won't change.

Stephanie Fischer has been appointed interim executive director.
