Highway Fixes For Local Region

Wednesday, June 20, 2012 - 6:39 PM

A few fixes are the way for our local highways in the greater Trail, Crescent Valley and Castlegar areas.

$1.7 million in re-surfacing work is planned for the summer. Sections of  Highways 22 , 3B and 3 will be the focus but so too will some connecting side-roads like Ootishenia, Columbia and Broadwater roads.

And there's a fix on the way for an eyesore on the way into Nelson from Salmo and Castlegar.

Hugh Eberle, our region's operations manager with the Ministry of Transportation says they'll be replacing the overhead sign bridge that was damaged by a vehicle in February.

Since then one of the sign's supports has been held up by an ugly make-shift  wooden structure that doesn't exactly make for a good first impression.
