Remains Found In Johnsons Landing Search

Sunday, July 15, 2012 - 8:34 PM

The remains of one of the four people missing in the Johnsons Landing disaster have been located by search and rescue teams.

Crews located the body of 60 year old Valentine Webber close to his home Sunday afternoon. He was buried in up to 3 meters of debris. Formal identification has not yet occured.

Officials have decided to end the rescue mission and have now formally labelled it a recovery. They have determined there is no chance of survivability for any of the other three people who are missing - Webber's two daughters 22 year old Diana and 17 year old Rachel, and friend Petra Frehse , aged 64.

The BC Coroner's Service will work with other agencies to determine the best way forward for recovery in the coming days.

Search and Rescue teams will be stood down.
