NewsCivic Theatre Proponents Ponder Options
The group behind Nelson's downtown Athletic Club proposal is weighing its options.
That after the city granted a four-month extension to another group that wants to keep the old Civic Theatre a cinema.
Pat Hodgson of the squash club says it puts them in a tough position. They wanted to team up with the climbing association to turn the theatre into a multi-purpose facility. He says their group wasn't happy with the request for proposal process and will meet in the coming weeks to discuss potential options.
Hodgson says the squash club can wait four months because it has another facility at the moment. But the climbing group doesn't and if they find an alternative in the meantime, the whole proposal may fall apart.
