NewsNelson to Integrate Bus Service With Regional Neighbours
The City of Nelson has opted for changes to local transit that would make routes more direct and as frequent.
Those changes would require full integration of Nelson's fleet with that of their neighboring regional partners. BC Transit's Tania Wegwitz says that's because there is no additional money for the overall bus system. She says integration is key because there's a limited number of commuter buses. A regional partnership would increase the frequency of commuter buses both in Nelson and throughout the region.
The new plan could be up and running by January but it does not allow for a return of Sunday bus service. That's despite it being the number one priority among hundreds of riders who were surveyed recently. Most Viewed Stories
