Creating Vision For Kettle River Watershed

Friday, October 12, 2012 - 1:38 PM

It's another big step Friday towards a future vision for the endangered Kettle River watershed in the Boundary.

The public and several experts are involved in a one-day workshop in Rock Creek on the state of the river and what can be done to ensure it's sustainability.

Area E Director Bill Baird chairs the Steering Committee on the work to create a water management plan and says climate change has put the waterway at risk.

Friday's meeting - which is being led by the RDKB with provincial support- continues the exploration of how best to balance the needs for water supply, irrigation, recreation and ecological protection.
