Castlegar Opposes Greyhound Cuts

Wednesday, October 17, 2012 - 9:59 AM

Castlegar City Council is writing a letter to oppose the latest cuts to Greyhound service in our region.

The bus company made local reductions in 2010 and are now looking to eliminate two routes over the weekends between Kelowna and the Alberta border.

Councillor Dan Rye says many residents in the area use the service and any cuts backs are going to hurt.  He says Council wrote a letter of objection regarding Greyhound's last cuts and feels they should do it again this time.

In 2010 service through our region was cut by about 50 percent.

Wednesday is the final opportunity for residents to contact the Oassenger Transportation Board with their concerns.
