NewsMLA Speaks To Travel Expenses
Kootenay West MLA Katrine Conroy says she has no issue with MLA travel expenses being made public.
The Legislature put the numbers up on their website Wednesday. The local New Democrat spent just over $30,000 on travel in the six months since April 1st.
The BC Taxpayer's Federation wants more specifics like which hotels and specific flights are used but Conroy says MLA's are not being frivolous. She thinks they are all doing a pretty good job - adding that they have to factor in time - for example, driving to Vancouver or Victora would take away valuable time spent working for Constituents.
Fellow New Democrat , Nelson-Creston's Michelle Mungall also spent $30,000 on travel. Conroy says it costs more for MLA's in the Interior to get to and from the Capital.
