Slocan Valley Evacuation Order Rescinded: RDCK
The evacuation order for Slocan Valley West road has been rescinded by the RDCK.
Emergency operations spokesman Bill MacPherson explains 15 people had been asked to leave and were staying at hotels in Nelson and Castlegar.
The road was re-opened Monday night with residents returning home Tuesday morning.
Work on Slocan Valley West road is expected to continue over the next few days, and MacPherson explains the additional rain forecast through Wednesday means the area remains on an evacuation alert.
As for other repair work within the RDCK, minor delays persist along Pass Creek road as workers repair the third of three affected sites.
That large slide on Broadwater road will not be cleared fully until later this week.
The road remains open to single-lane alternating traffic.
