Flooding Emergency Status Reduced
After a week of solid sunshine things are looking better in some of our local areas afffeted by the recent flooding.
The evacuation alert for residents of Slocan Valley West Road has been rescinded with the river receding and two-way access on the road now restored.
Kootenay Lake is now dropping gradually and is expected to be at or below 1,753 feet by midnight Wednesday tonight.
However a portion of Area G near Salmo remains under a state of local emergency as work continues at the old HB Mine site dam.
The RDCK says buttressing and reinforcement of the toxic dam will be finished prior to refilling the pond that was drawn down to relieve pressure.
