Clean Up After Tuesday's Record Storm

Wednesday, July 18, 2012 - 3:51 PM

More clean-up work Wednesday for civic works crews in Castlegar after Tuesday's record dump of rain.

Director Chris Barlow says some roads have been washed out and undermined, a few banks need to be rebuilt and there's minor storm system damage. He says once those areas are fixed they'll move into the various sub-divisions to address boulevards that got washed away.

He adds the Columbia River is also a concern as levels are high and getting higher.  Barlow asks the public to stay away from Millenium Park as well - a downed tree uprooted a section of the pathway and high water levels make it dangerous in general.

Whether there's further damage to the pathway is unknown because it's under water
